Din Tai Fung A Dumpling Sensation
Din Tai Fung is a dumpling sensation, and a place The World Loves Sydney was keen to experience. Over the years we have imbibed the best the dumpling world has to offer, having a penchant for dumplings and all.
Staying in Paddington, we actually walked to Din Tai Fung, and the walk was well worth it. No greasy dumplings in sight. Everything is delicate and flavoursome. We even camped outside the joint as we were half an hour early (as did others and so we had to form a queue).
The World Loves Sydney ordered the steamed pork dumplings (we judge every dumpling house on the merit of this basic dish) and were glad we did. Allow the soup to explode in your mouth and you negotiate the wobbling and delicate casing.
The Spicy wontons were also silky with right amount of heat...
Fried rice is another measuring stick of a place; this Fried rice was full of shredded pork as well as egg and medium grain rice.
Wash it down with aromatic Chinese tea...
And then head for desserts; notably the Mango sorbet and the Black sesame. Wow factor with these desserts; so refreshing and compelling. The Mango sorbet is a work of art with plenty going on - a must order dish.
