Guzman Y Gomez is a quality Mexican fast food joint that has standout ambience and cuisine for food of this genre. People are expecting more from fast food restaurants these days including some healthy choices. Guzman Y Gomez delivers in terms of fresh ingredients, taste, portion size and healthy options. Its actually a Mexican taqueria - which means street food.
I dined here twice with out of towners and all were highly impressed. First of all the vibe is excellent if you want to meet with friends. Cool modern fit out with use of various textures including wood and pebbles. It's colourful and cool, even chic. Colour scheme with dark wood, black and bright yellow. Enjoy the wood panelling on the ceiling.
The point was we wanted to catch up for half hour or so before I drove them to their accomodation. Here was a place with atmosphere, quick food served within a few minutes, helpful service, and impressive healthy tasty food. It doesn't seem to be a watered down western version of Mexican. There's some kick.

Grab yourself some tacos from beef, chicken , pork and barramundi options - soft or hard shells. Or indeed some beef nachos.
I went for burritos and enjoyed the Spicy Chicken Guerrero Burrito and then the Pork Burrito. The burritos comes wrapped in alfoil and you peel back the foil to a well wrapped burrito. The burritos include rice, cheddar cheese, vegetarian black beans, salsa and filling, all wrapped in a soft tortilla. I was impressed with the freshness and flavour combination.
Each burrito is a decent size so you shouldn't feel hungry afterwards. I loved the amount of spice in the spicy chicken as well as the smoky flavours. The Pork burrito was also excellent with slow cooked pork, but my favourite was the Spicy chicken.
My friends also enjoyed the Spicy chicken as well as the Steak Chipotle (gave a favourable report). I am tempted to try the Barramundi burrito as something unique.
I noticed the flavours/fillings are similar for tacos, quesadillas, burritos etc. They even have a few kids options including the "little guy" burrito.
There's a cool condiment bar including Tabasco choices and jalapenos.
My friends loved the music being played and the kind of young vibe of the place.
The drinks section is interesting with frozen margarita, imported Mexican beers and designer soft drinks.
Having been twice I'm keen to revisit. Everyone needs decent fast food options and this is one of the healthiest and best value I know of in the CBD.
